The Gospel

The word "Gospel" comes from the old English word, "gōdspel", which means "good news".

John 3:16 is perhaps the most famous summary of the Gospel:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Here are 7 truths we can find in John 3:16

1. The Greatest Reality is God (“For God…”)

God is our Creator, He is the maker of all things (John 1:3, Romans 1:20). For some people, He is a reality to be resisted and rejected. For others, He only comes into focus whenever blessings or trials arrive. For some, He is somewhat known through a confusion of religion which complicates and hinders a full connection with Him. And for others, He is intimately known through the relationship that began with being born again through Jesus Christ. How about you, who is God to you?

2. The Greatest Love (“…so loved the world…”)

God loves all people. He loves everyone. No one reading this is outside of the bounds of His great love. He loves you.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

3. The Greatest Gift (“…that he gave his only begotten Son…”)

God’s pure and unconditional love was demonstrated at the cross, where He gave us His greatest gift—His only begotten Son. The word ‘begotten’ in Greek is monogenēs, meaning ‘one and only.’ Jesus is God in the flesh, who paid the price for our sins—past, present, and future—to give us eternal life.”
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

4. The Greatest Scope (“…that whosoever…”)

This gift is for everyone. This gift is offered to you.
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13

5. The Greatest Faith (“…believeth in him…”)

Belief is not just something that you are aware of or agree to be true, but it is faith, trust, and dependence. We often misplace our trust in religion, money, or our own good works, but non of those things can deliver us from our sins. The best place to put our faith, trust, and dependence is in Jesus Christ alone.

6. The Greatest Escape (“…should not perish…”)

You might wonder, why all these? Why did Jesus die for us? It was for us to escape the price to be paid for our sins.
For the wages of sin is death…” – Romans 6:23

We are all sinners by nature and by choice. No one is righteous and our sinful nature separates us from a Holy God.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

Hell is a reality, but God gave us the way to escape that punishment through Jesus, if only we would believe. Believe that, out of God’s great love, He came down in the flesh to die, pay the price for our sins, and rise from the grave to give you and me eternal life. The greatest escape is in Jesus Christ.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – John 14:6

7. The Greatest Existence (“…but have everlasting life.”)

What is life? Friend, life doesn’t just end here on Earth, you are a soul. When you put your complete trust in Jesus Christ and on what He has done, He gives you everlasting life, an everlasting relationship with your Creator. Jesus is the bridge between sinful man and a Holy God. Forgiveness for our sins was all settled at the cross. His dying declaration was, “It is finished.” – John 19:30

The gift of Salvation is freely given to you by God. Will you accept His gift? Friend, it is not about religion, but a personal relationship with Him.
I pray that you will receive this gift through a simple act of faith, even in a simple prayer, “Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, but I thank you that you came, died, and rose from the dead for me. I accept you into my life to be my Lord and Saviour.”

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” – Romans 10:9-10
